Supporting Educators Across Maricopa County

Strengthening instruction, supporting teachers, and improving retention through coaching, professional learning, and leadership collaboration.

What Is the Current State of Education?

Nearly 78% of teacher openings across Arizona were either unfilled or staffed by individuals who do not meet standard certification requirements.
— (Arizona School Personnel Administrators Association, 2024)
54% of current educators are somewhat to very likely to leave within the next 1–2 years.
— (Arizona School Personnel Administrators Association, 2024)
Two-thirds (66%) of current educators would not recommend becoming an educator.
— (Arizona School Personnel Administrators Association, 2024)
Lack of administrative support for classroom discipline was cited as a top reason for leaving by nearly 64% of former educators.
— (Tziganuk et al., 2024)
Teachers report behavioral issues contribute to higher rates of burnout and turnover, especially since many feel they do not possess the appropriate skill sets to address their students’ needs.
— (Barone, 2024)
Teachers report leaving schools where they feel administrators ‘are constantly pointing out what we’re not doing or what we’re doing wrong and rarely telling us when we do something well.’
— (We Are Teachers Staff, 2025)
Replacing a single teacher costs between $11,000 and $25,000 depending on district size. Beyond the financial drain, high turnover disrupts school stability, erodes colleague morale, and significantly diminishes student achievement—particularly in high-need schools where stability is most critical.
