In this video, Steve Watson visits Dobson High School in Mesa Public Schools to learn more about the Pawsitive Peers Program. This unique and high-impact program matches rescue dogs to staff members and provides obedience and therapy training. Following testing and approval by the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program, these dog therapy teams are incorporated into classroom and campus life as a social-emotional learning support. They assist with everything from addressing stress, anxiety and isolation to serving as a source of connection, joy, and unconditional love. ❤️🐶
In this episode of STEM Pro Live!, we met two professionals from Arizona Natural Museum of History - Benjamin Paysnoe, resident paleo artist/sculptor and Dr. Emily Early, curator of anthropology. Both brought the science of paleontology to life for our students. Between discussing dinosaurs, fossils and the ancestral Sonoran Desert dwellers of Phoenix, there was something for everyone to learn.
Dinosaurs and fossils are fun at any age! Our latest Solve It STEAM Challenge combines both of those AND ART. This is the perfect lesson to engage your students during the final weeks of school.
Your Challenge: Think like a paleoartist and research some of the fossils that have been found here in Arizona. Then design a model or illustration to represent what that dinosaur could have looked like.
Find information and resources to solve the challenge here.
