Great Questions for Great Leaders

Guest User

We know master teachers ask great questions to encourage students to think deeply. As leaders, we should be doing the same for our teachers.  Here are five questions you can consider bringing to your conversations with your staff.

  • Wait, what?   This requires us to get more information before making a decision.

  • I wonder why…? /I wonder if… ?  These can spark curiosity and needed change.

  • Couldn’t we at least…?  Moves you to finding common ground with others.

  • How can I help?  Helps colleagues to define the current problem, which helps them own it.

  • What truly matters?  We need to stay focused on our priorities and grounded in our vision.

Find out more about these important questions in the Harvard Business Review article “5 Questions Leaders Should Be Asking All the Time” to ensure you are asking them on a daily basis and during critical moments.
