West-MEC 2025 Ballot Requests

Western Maricopa Education Center School District

November 4, 2025 Special Election
Voter Information

Dear Voters,

This election, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, your ballot includes a school district bond and site sale/lease/ exchange measure. These items are placed on the ballot by your locally elected school district governing board, ensuring that voters decide for themselves how local tax dollars are invested to meet district needs.

A bond works like a mortgage. It allows a school district to borrow money for capital projects such as building and/or renovating schools, purchasing buses, or improving technology. Bonds must be repaid over time through property taxes, and voters ultimately determine whether that investment is the right choice for their community.

A site sale, lease, or exchange is a request by the district to sell off, lease or exchange unused or excess property and use the proceeds to pay outstanding bonds, lower your secondary tax rate, and/or fund capital expenses. If approved, it doesn’t guarantee that the sale/lease or exchange will take place but leaves that discretion and decision up to the district’s governing board.

This pamphlet is designed to provide you with clear information so that you can make an informed decision. Each district’s needs are different, and it is important to review the details of any proposal carefully and consider its impact on both students and taxpayers.

Strong schools are essential to building the future of our community and our country. These elections give voters a direct voice in how their local schools are supported. Exercising your right to vote is one of the most important ways to ensure that community values and priorities are reflected in decisions about the wise use of public funds.

Thank you for being engaged, informed, and committed to shaping the future of education in your community. Please remember to vote on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Sincerely,

Shelli Boggs
Maricopa County School Superintendent

BALLOT MEASURE DETAILS:

Bond (Proposition 403)

A bond is a financial instrument that allows a district to borrow money to be used for capital projects. The district issues bonds (via financial institutions) and pays back the loan plus interest over 20 years using property taxes.

Site Sale (Proposition 406)

This ballot measure is a request by the school district to sell off, lease, or exchange unused property and use the proceeds to pay outstanding bonds, lower your secondary tax rate, and/or fund capital expenses. If approved, the district governing board will have the discretion to sell, lease, or exchange certain real property owned by the district with no additional tax impact to the community.
